On January 17th, 2025 we hosted our first annual Renew, Reuse, Recreate Sustainable Art Show Competition Ceremony! Student from North Texas- as well as district leaders, school administrators, local business leaders, and artists- attended the art show, held at the Marcus High School 9th Grade Campus. Community members had the chance to walk through the art gallery, with twinkling lights and light jazz playing in the background. 1st and 2nd place winners were awarded cash prizes and ribbons. Guest speakers and judges spoke about the impact of art in conveying hope and urgency.
10/5/2024 - On October 5, 2024 we hosted a local clean-up in Carrollton in partnership with Carrollton Trash Pickers. We had an amazing turnout with 37 student volunteers collecting 36 full-sized bags of litter and 1/6 of a car (seriously!).

6/10/24 - Carys, one of our Founders and Executive Directors, presented our work as part of a panel for Harvard Climate Action Week regarding the role of public schools as climate leaders. You can watch the full panel on YouTube or with the window to the right.
4/27/2024 - We had a blast on Saturday, April 27th for a day of community fun while cleaning up our local area! It was amazing meeting so many community members while sharing environmental trivia, our group's work, and seeing everyone's colorful creations. Special shoutout to Keep Flower Mound Beautiful and Flower Mound HS for hosting!
2/23/2024 - Carys and Veda presented to the Executive Director of LISD Facilities Services, Director of LISD Facilities Services, Energy Management Manager, Executive Director of Construction Services, LISD CFO, LISD Board President, LISD Superintendent, and Manager of Contract Services. The meeting focused on school electrification, highlighting the benefits of electric bus fleets such as lower total cost of ownership and environmental advantages compared to diesel vehicles. We provided cost comparisons, discussed three types of EV chargers, and outlined available federal and state grants, rebates, and credits. Additionally, we presented a comprehensive school bus roadmap, shared case studies from other districts, and explored additional sustainable initiatives including solar panel installations, a sustainable art show, development of green spaces, and composting bins.
1/23/24 - Our executive team met with LISD board member Mrs. Proznik and Superintendent Dr. Rapp to discuss the details and financing of our electrification plan, including the electric school bus fleet and solar panels. We also discussed the logistics of our Green Spaces Project and Sustainable Art Show. Stay tuned for more!
12/11/23 - Our executive team spoke at the LISD Board Meeting Public Comments Sections! We presented the social, environmental, and economic benefits of school electrification, including, electrifying the school bus fleet and implementing solar pannels. We are super excited about our progress and are ready to work alongside the board to make our vision a reality.
11/2/23 - Our executive team met with LISD board member Mrs. Sheila Taylor to introduce DFW Gen Green, our electrification campaign, and spark engaging dialogue about some next steps! Meeting with the rest of the board soon!
10/4/2023 - We has a blast meeting so many members of the community at Marcus HS's Homecoming Carnival! Everyone had fun playing ladder ball and learning about electrification. Over 70 parents and students signed our petition, and joined the fight for a more sustainable LISD!
9/30/23 - We had a team workday to prep for the Marcus carnival booth, develop social media content, finalize website, progress check-in, and delegate new tasks!
9/23/23- The team had a check-in with our team sponsor for the Great School Electrification Challenge and reviewed our next steps for outreach and electrification. We delegated tasks and established deadlines. We also set a date for our next meeting and a work night.
8/13/2023- Great to meet the team and plan for the upcoming school year!
