About Us

DFW Gen Green is a passionate youth-led environmental advocacy group dedicated to advocating for a groundbreaking resolution that will electrify schools, infrastructure, and devices in our district, ushering in a new era of clean, renewable energy. But our commitment doesn't stop there; we're also planting trees across the district to enhance our environment.

Our story

"The origin of DFW Gen Green was quite a coincidence: Carys and I met at a National CCL Youth meeting and learned that we just so happened to live 20 minutes away from each other! After exchanging emails and forming a plan, we created the DFW Gen Green Team. My interest in finance and economics and Carys's passions for law and political science make us the perfect executive team, tied together with a passion for sustainability. As youth, we are gifted with determination and skill unique to Gen Z and I wanted to put these qualities for a passion I strongly believe in. Leading the electrification team along with Carys has shown me how meaningful it is to enact change as a youth. Taking this step allows us to progress towards a cleaner and safer environment in our school district and will surely spark positive change. "

"When I was little, my younger siblings and I would venture into our backyard and use whatever we could to play; we’d do everything from chefs using berries and wild carrots to explorers wading through the overgrown creek. Even then I was fascinated with the natural beauty of the Earth and removing trash from the water. As I grew older I co-founded my elementary’s gardening club and even started a small sewing initiative using second-hand materials after I discovered the environmental and social impact of the fashion industry. My passion for sustainability only ever grew, and as I aged the lack of accountability, awareness, and research grew ever more concerning.

Fast forward a couple of years, to the coincidental meeting of Veda and I in that fateful CCL Youth call. It quickly became apparent that our desire for meaningful environmental action, especially youth-led efforts, was shared. Mixed with our compatible interests, Veda’s affinity for finance providing insight into the economics behind sustainability initiatives and my passion for law and politics giving insight into environmental policy, it was only a matter of time before we created a group to be the aforementioned youth-led action.

DFW Gen Green was born striving to drive impactful local change while spreading awareness of the environmental crisis and engaging with the community. Our message allowed our team to quickly expand beyond the two of us, and it continues to be the core of our efforts. Everything from our electrification campaign, tree planting, and outreach efforts are all born from our group’s passion for meaningful change.

DFW Gen Green is still a new organization, but just like our ages, that does not stifle our drive or passion. As we continue to combat the environmental crisis I hope our message continues to speak to more people from all walks of life. The Earth is humanity’s only home, I think it deserves to be preserved. I can only hope that DFW Gen Green and environmental action can touch you the same way it did me. Regardless, I’m honored to share this space with you and hope you feel the same."
